World War 2 Norway, Operation Freshman

Commando Raid on the Heavy Water Plant, Telemark

3rd – 10th June

8 Days, 7 Nights

£1250.00

On the 19th/20th November 1942 two gliders carrying Airborne Engineers were towed across the North Sea to Norway with the intention of destroying the Heavy Water plant at Rijken. Sadly the gliders crashed killing many of the engineers, the rest were captured and eventually executed.

On this tour we cover the ground to see the tremendous task that were given, see the site of the proposed action, the graves of those who fell, and the subsequent successful destruction of the heavy water supply.

We Fly to Oslo where we spend the first two nights. On day two we visit Akershus Castle and Museum with our local guide, and on day three set off for the area of Operation Freshman staying in the area for the next four nights. We will aalso visiting Stavanger to see where some of the engineers were executed and visit the CWGC Cemeteries. We return to Oslo for our last nights stay before flying back to the UK.
