Based in the Dundee area, this tour visits Rorkes Drift, Isandlwana and Fugitives Drift to see the sites of the epic battle between the Zulu Nation and the then might of the British Empire. The tour traces the route of the Zulu approach, the battlesite itself, and the escape route of the fortunate few who escaped via Fugitives Drift. We will also visit the war graves of the those who still rest there.
Rorkes Drift will be covered in detail by our
local guide who brings the story to life as we cover the individual heroics
of members of the garrison. We will visit Kambula Battlefield and look
at the actions of Sir Evelyn Wood, and well as Blood River encampment,
scene of earlier Boer versus Zulu engagements.
The Boer War Battle sites of Spioen Kop, Colenso and the saving of the guns, Chieveley and the capture site of Winston Churchill is visited, along with the Siege town of Ladysmith, Wagon Hill, and Caesars Camp. The private Block House Museum of our good friend Doug McMasters with is incredible collection is also seen, along with the Elandslaagte Battlefield. The Talana Battlefield and Museum in Dundee is also covered.

On our longer, 15 day, Zulu and Boer War tour, we will have an opportunity
to soak in the culture of Africa when we stay overnight at a Cultural
Village. We then drive south to visit the Majuba area and O'Neill's Cottage,
before we do all of the above and then drive through the Golden Gate National
Park, through the Free State to Bloemfontein to view the Women's Memorial.
The tour then goes into the Cape Colony to cover
the Battlefields of Lord Metheun at Belmont, Graspan, Modder River, and
view the site of the Orange River Concentration Camp. We cover the action
of the Highland Brigade at Magersfontein, and the Battle of Paardeburg,
visiting the site of the Boer Lager.
We will then have an opportunity to relax in
the Kimberley area, visiting the Kimberley Club, the MacGregor Museum,
(where Cecil Rhodes stayed during ther Seige) and pay a visit to a Diamond
Mine.
We finish off this trip in Pretoria where we have a City tour, visiting the Union Buildings, Paul Kruger's House, and many other places of interest, incuding the South African National Army Museum in Johannesburg
