Russia Specialised Tours – Moscow, Stalingrad and Kursk

This historic tour takes us through the exciting City of Moscow, visiting Red Square, The Kremlin, Lenin’s Tomb and the magnificent Memorials and Museums of Moscow.
We travel down to Stalingrad (Volgograd) and visit the places of valour where the Russian armies and citizens held back the might of the German armies on the banks of the Volga River. We see the magnificent Mamayev Kurgan Memorial, the Grain Elevator, the Panorama, and visit Kalach, the scene of the eventual encirclement of the German army, and many other places of interest.
We then travel to Kursk and the site of probably the greatest tank battle in history.

Russia Specialised Tours – Sieges, Tzars and Solovetski Island Gulag

This historical and educational tour takes you back in time through the rich culture of Russia from the time of Peter the Great and Catherine the Great. Through the Romanov times, the October 1917 revolution, the Lenin period, the emergence of Stalin, the Gulag prison camps, the sieges of Leningrad and Moscow, and through to the Artic Convoys of the Second World War.
Departing from London we fly to Moscow where we spend three nights, visiting sites such as Red Square, Lenin’s Tomb, the Kremlin, Poklonaya Gora Museum, the Borodino Panorama and many other places of interest.
We then relax on the luxury train to St. Petersburg where we spend three days visiting the Hemitage and other cultural sites of this wonderful city that was besieged for 900 days, having the battles described to us by our guide.
From here we set off on the train for our journey to the town of Kem, where we cruise across the White Sea to the remote Island of Solovetski and the infamous Gulag for political and criminal prisoners of the state. The island was chosen for its remoteness was visited by two monks who were responsible for the building of the beautiful Monastery in its dominating position overlooking the harbour.
The Solovetski Archipeligo is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and we spend three nights here visiting the main Monastery, an isolated Skeet (Minor Monastery), the canal system dug by the prisoners, the Botanical Gardens, and the site of the executions where countless died, under the harsh regime.
We return to Moscow where we relax and sightsee before flying back to London.
