World War 2 – Normandy Beaches Tour

Operation Overlord

2nd – 6th September

5 Days, 4 Nights

£550.00


The first full day of this tour is spent covering the American involvement, visiting, Utah and 'Bloody' Omaha Beaches, Ste. Mere Eglise (with its famous Church on which US Paratrooper John Steele landed), Pont Du Hoc (where Col. James Rudder and his Rangers scaled the sheer cliffs), and visiting the very poignant American Cemetery at Omaha Beach.

 

We spend a day covering the British and Commonwealth landing and dropping zones, visiting, Arromanches, Gold, Juno and Sword beaches, following the advance inland. We also visit Bayeux Cemetery and Museum, Pegasus Bridge, Cafe Gondree (first house liberated) and Ranville.

 

The following morning we depart for a tour of the southern Normandy Battlefields, visiting Vimoutieres, the Falaise Pocket, Hill 112 and Merville Battery. We cover the action of the Engineers at Troarn Bridge on route back to our ferry on the final day.

 

There is also the possibility of Special Visits to any cemetery in the Normandy area.

World War 2 – Arnhem and Nijmegen

A Bridge Too Far – 66th Anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem

16th – 20th September

5 Days, 4 Nights

These tours are accompanied by Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Tom Van Soest. Departing from the UK, this tour takes us through France and Belgium before entering Holland to our first night's hotel in the Eindhoven area.

 

The next morning we will take a leisurely drive along the Corridor, 'Hells Highway' which the troops took in their attempt to relieve the Airborne Forces at Arnhem. Visiting, on route, the various crossing places of the canal system, the Grave Bridge, and taking a break in the beautiful town of Nijmegen. There will be a visit to Jonkerbos Cemetery, before making our way to our Hotel at Arnhem.

 

From our base in Arnhem we visit Ginkel Heath dropping and landing zones, Wolfheze, Heelsum and Oosterbeek areas, the Hartenstein Hotel Airborne Museum, Schoonoord Cross-Roads, Oosterbeek Airborne Cemetery and follow the route taken by John Frost into the famous 'Bridge Too Far', seeing en route the Tafelberg Hotel, the home of Kate Ter Horst (the 'Angel of Arnhem').

 

We will visit the scenes of valour where L/Sgt Baskeyfield, Cpt. Queripel, Cpt. Cain, Lt. Grayburn and Flt Lt. Lord all won the coveted Victoria Cross. We also visit the Groesbeek area to view the Liberation Museum, Canadian Cemetery and the impressive Overloon Battlefield Park.

 

We then cross over into Germany and pay a visit to the Reichswald Forest Cemetery, beside Kleve, and other cemeteries by request.

 

We also attend the Airborne Drop at Ginkel Heath, and the Special Service of Remembrance at Oosterbeek Airborne Cemetery, to pay our respects along with the schoolchildren of the area.

World War 2 – Battle of the Bulge

The Ardennes

24th – 28th September

5 Days, 4 Nights

£550.00


Travelling from the UK we make our way to our Hotel in Belgium for a one night stay. The following day we visit the beautiful town of Dinant before making for the town of Hotton, with its British and Commonwealth Cemetery, and seeing the Panther Tank at Grandmesnil. We then go to our Hotel in Luxemburg, where we spend the following three nights.

 

Battle of the Bulge

 

Next day sees us following the route taken by the infamous Joachim Peiper, from the Schnee Eifel in Germany, through the small lanes and villages, covering the various atrocities, before arriving at the cross-roads just outside Malmedy, where the notorious 'Massacre At Malmedy' took place. Here we pay our respects and have a short 'Service of Remembrance'. We then visit the cafe, where some of the troops took refuge. We continue on to the Hotel Moulin, where Peiper ate the breakfast of the fleeing Americans, and pay our respects to those shot at the small memorial outside. From here we cover the action at Trois Ponts before ending up at the Museum at La Gleize, where we see the fearsome King Tiger Tank.

 

Next day we see various memorials and pieces of equipment en route to the marvellous Museum in Deikirch, where we spend time looking at the artefacts and Panoramas so splendidly set out. Continuing south we visit the large American Cemetery in Luxembourg and see the grave of General Patton, before we visit Bastogne, 'Nuts City', see it's Sherman Tank, and visit the Mardasson American Memorial and Museum on the hillside.

 

Prior to returning to the Hotel, we visit the isolated graves of the airmen shot down on their return from a secret mission over Germany, who lie buried alongside their crashed aircraft. The following morning we make our way back to the Port of Calais, with Special Visits en route.

World War 2 – The Italian Campaign Battlefield/Pilgrimage Tour

Italy, Monte Cassino and Salerno

23rd – 27th September

5 Days, 4 Nights

£750.00


Our Itinerary will be as follows, but may be subject to slight change depending on requests to visit specific sites/cemeteries but you are guaranteed to be taken to your place of request.


Day 1 – Flying out on day one we are met by our coach and taken to our Hotel in the Cassino area where we are based for the first four nights.
Day 2 – Visit to Monte Cassino, the Garigliano Valley and Minturno.
Day 3 – Today we visit Anzio, Aprilia, The Wadi’s and Campoleone.
Day 4 – Today we visit Salerno, and Naples.
Day 5 – After breakfast we are taken back to Rome Airport for our flight home.

 

All the Hotels used are of excellent standard up to and including 4 star, personally visited and checked out by the organizers. All rooms have en-suite facilities, television, telephone, all breakfasts are buffet breakfasts, and evening meals are three course. There will be the services of a chauffeur driven car to facilitate special visits to Bari and Taranto Cemeteries, and certain others in the Central region of Italy, if required.

 

The air flights are ATOL protected by the Civil Avaition Authority, as we act as agent for licenced tour operators: Complete World Travel, ATOL 5457.
