WWII 70 Years Anniversary Tours – 2015

This year we are again running a number of special tours to commemorate World War 2 70th Anniversaries, the full list of these is available here. Union Jack WORLD WAR 2: 70th Anniversary of crossing the Rhine

A special 70 year Anniversary Tour covering the crossing of the Rhine – British, Canadian and American actions.

23rd–27th March
5 Days, 4 Nights

Day 1 – Travel, crossing the Channel via the ferry at Dover, to our hotel in Holland.

Day 2 – We start the day by visiting the area on the west bank of the Rhine working through the clearances in preparation for the crossing of the Rhine. We visit Rheinberg Cemetery where many of the casualties are buried.

We make our way around Kalkar and Xanten, before heading further north to the Reichswald Forest where we visit the largest 2nd World War British and Commonwealth Cemetery in the World. We then cross the Rhine to Rees.

Day 3 – We set off for Diersfordt, Hamminkeln and Wesel, covering the various crossing and landing areas of the Airborne Forces.

Day 4 – We head further south through Cologne (Koln) to Remagen area to cover the American sector and the site of the Ludendorff Bridge. We visit Erpel on the eastern bank of the Rhine, and also visit the Peace Museum housed in one of the remaining towers of the Bridge.

Day 5 – Return to the UK, with a possible visit to Venray Cemetery en-route.
